Alberta Junior Forest Rangers

What is AJFR all about?

Aseniwuche Winewak Nation is a host community who works with Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (ESRD) to fund and recruit the Aboriginal Junior Forest Rangers (Aboriginal JFR) Crew Members and Leaders. AWN has hosted the AJFR program in 2007, 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Being a member of the Aboriginal Junior Forest Ranger crew allows local high school students an opportunity to participate in a seven-week summer work experience program that allows them an opportunity to explore career paths in forestry, natural resource management and earth sciences.
