Program Descriptions

ABC You & Me: Stop in the learn practical strategies and participate in various activities with your child to support their literacy development. Best suited for ages 3 to 6 years old. 

Discovering Your Imagination: We invite your children to experiment, engage, construct and invent; To tinker, manipulate and play with varying loose parts available in our centre! We encourage open-ended learning with your child. 

Tummy Time:  This program is focused on babies age birth to 12 months. From a very young babies are learning, observing and experiencing the world around them. We encourage this by giving your baby plenty of tummy time. Join us at the PLC to introduce your baby to varying Tummy Time activities and to discuss new and engaging parenting topics introduced each week.

Building Fun: This program encourages children to experiment, engage, construct and invent with a variety of open-ended materials available. Come on in and get creative! 


Outreach: Follow us on Facebook and meet us for some gross motor fun activities at varying outreach locations for interactive activities!  

Crafternoon: Join us for an afternoon full of open-ended art activities. Let your child’s imagination run wild while creating art pieces with varying artistic techniques! Best suited for ages 3 to 6 years.

Stay & Play: An excellent opportunity for parents and children birth to 6 years of age, to socialize and play in an engaging, safe environment. Families can enjoy some unstructured play time together in our fully equipped playroom! As a parent, you will discover how to encourage your child to develop a love of learning as you play.

Baby Boats: Join Parent Link at the Grande Cache Recreational Centre on Tuesdays for alternating Aqua Fitness and Parent/Child Water Safety Swims.

Trying Twos: There is some truth to the idea that children at the ages of 2 and 3 can be quite a handful. They’re no longer completely helpless and will be sure to let you know that detail. They want their own way and will do whatever it takes to get it. Does any of this sound familiar? Bring your little one out Butterfly Park for some fun playtime activities while obtaining some information on tackling the terrible twos and threes. Get advice from other parents who have hone through them and what worked well! You might just find that your child’s terrible twos can become their terrific twos!

Taleblazers: Join CALP as we discover the adventures of reading at the Parent Link Centre! We will explore our story using different story-telling techniques and explore everyday literacy through different kinds of play. Parents must attend but other family members are encouraged to come as well. This program is for registered families.

Story Time: Stop in for a story with Dani!

Infants & Tots: Stop in for a Stay & Play designed specifically for Infants and Toddlers offering opportunities to learn through play and discovery! Parents/caregivers will receive information on early development and have the opportunity to share their experiences and ideas.

Crafty Stories: Encourage the development of early literacy skills in a whole new way! You and your children will participate in a variety of finger plays, sensory bin activities, and the pairing of fun craft with an exciting book! Best suited for ages 3 to 6 years.

Little Gardeners: You little one will definitely get their hands dirty in this program! They will learn about the different parts of the plant, how plants grow and how they use rain, sun and soil. Best part of this program is that your little one is given the opportunity to plant and harvest different types of flowers, fruits and vegetables! There will also be taste testing, books, activities, sounds, arts and crafts.  

Little Olympics: This is an opportunity for your children to become acquainted with the Olympic Games, but most importantly the central message during the activities is one of friendship and peace. People playing and working together in peace and friendship makes for a better and beautiful world. Best suited for ages 2 to 6 years.

Move it Wednesdays: This program provides an opportunity for parents and children to interact through music, movement and rhymes. Your participation will help your child develop physical coordination, social skills and creative expression.

Ages & Stages Fun: Learn about your child’s physical, social and emotional development, and celebrate their skills. Participate in play that targets your child’s development in 5 areas: communication, fine motor, gross motor, personal-social and problem solving. Suitable for 0 to 6 years.

Let’s Get Messy: Children are naturally inclined to explore and get messy – so let’s help them along! Bring your child out to varying parks in Grande Cache to explore various art forms and sensory opportunities.

Interactive Infants: Join us for varying activities that support the infant and parent/caregiver attachment, understanding the importance of attachment to early development & supporting parenting skills. Parents/caregivers will receive information on early development and have the opportunity to share their experiences and ideas. For ages 0-24 months.

Discussion Group Triple P: Register to gain greater confidence in using a number of strategies for these common parenting problems: Dealing with Disobedience; Managing Fighting and Aggression; Developing Good Bedtime Routines; Hassle-Free Shopping.

Playdough & Tip Sheets: While your children enhance their creativity having fun with our playdough, take a peek at our Triple P tip sheets to learn simple tips and routines that can make a big difference to your family. You will be amazed how even a few small changes in what you say and do can work wonders.  

Gross Motor Fun: Gross motor activities for your child is a must! Getting their little bodies moving gets them active and makes learning easier and more fun! Hop, skip and jump over to the Parent Link for a morning of gross motor fun! Suitable for 0 to 6 years.

Sensory Fun: Come in and stimulate your child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. Parents will learn about child development through sensory play. Sensory activities encourage exploration, and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. Suitable for ages 0 to 6 years.

Science Fun: Children will use their imagination and hands-on science experiments to learn about the world around them. This program is best suited for children aged 3 to 5 years, and supports early math and science skills.

Fine Motor Friday: Help improve your child’s skills necessary for handwriting! Fine Motor Fridays offer an hour of fun activities to do with your child to assist with their smaller muscles in developing. Suitable for 1 – 6 years.

Discover Our World: Join us in exploring different cultures and traditions. Learning about different cultural aspects will offer exciting new experiences for your child! Best suited for ages 3 to 6 years.

Science Monday: Children will use their imaginations and hands-on science experiments to learn about the world around them. This program is best suited for children aged 3 to 5 years, and supports early math and science skills.

1, 2 Buckle My Shoe: This program is perfect for young learners to practice important numeracy skills in fun and creative ways. Best suited for ages 3 to 6 years.
