Aseniwuche Winewak Nation used the grant funding to purchase 15 manufactured homes in 2005 and 15 manufactured homes in 2006 for the Grande Cache Cooperatives and Enterprises that includes Victor Lake Cooperative, Susa Creek Cooperative, Muskeg Seepee Cooperative, Wanyandie Cooperative, Joachim Enterprises and Kamisak Enterprises. Target client groups were eligible households who resided in substandard or overcrowded housing. The combined household income for these households was not to exceed the core need income threshold for northern non-market areas.

Social Housing Program

Aseniwuche Winewak Nation is under contract, through an Administrative Transfer Agreement to operate and administer four Rural and Native Housing units in the Town of Grande Cache. The four social housing units are allocated for tenants that earn low to medium incomes and fall beneath the Core Needs Income Threshold.

Community Infrastructure

Our first priority is securing basic infrastructure. Our land holding agreements prevent government from investing in roads, water and sewer systems. Communal ownership prevents individual equity, which prevents member investment. AWN has developed innovative short-term solutions such as the Sustainable Housing Program, but this is not sustainable without government support for large-scale infrastructure.
