The Aseniwuche Development Corporation (ADC) is fully owned by the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation of Canada. The company offers general contracting, metal fabrication and automotive services to industry partners and to the local community. The Position:

The Journeyman/woman Welder works with the Fabrication Team to weld and fabricate custom items. Responsibilities include metal fabrication, designing plate layouts and operating metal-shaping machines. The Journeyman/woman Welder is also responsible for setting up and operating heavy-duty metal-working machines, rigging, hoisting, and moving materials, assembling, and fitting metal sections and plates to form complete units of subunits using track welding, botting, riveting or other methods and installing fabricated components in a final product. The Journeyman/woman Welder uses their training and experience to mentor and guide Apprentice Welders.

Duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or welding process specifications.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic cutting equipment and welding equipment to perform GTAW, GMAW, PAW, SMAW, FCAW, OAW, and SAW.
  • Set up and operate various heavy-duty metal-working machines such as brake presses, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and drills, including computer numerical control (CNC) equipment, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form heavy-metal components.
  • Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite.
  • Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, riveting or other methods.
  • Install fabricated components in final product or delivery site.
  • Provide assistance to responsible staff for estimating manpower, materials & supplies, and equipment hours for quoting on projects/jobs.
  • Train and mentor apprentices.
  • May require driving.

Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years’ experience in fabrication.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and welding specifications; operating manual and semi-automatic cutting equipment and welding equipment for GTAW, GMAW, PAW, SMAW, FCAW, OWA and SAW.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman certification as a Welder.
  • CWB Inspector certification preferred.
  • CSTS, First Aid and H2S Alive are required or obtained within 30 days of hire date.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Must be willing to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
