Journeyman/woman Automotive Technician

Position Overview:

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a Journeyman/Woman Automotive Technician who is safety-focused, dependable, and a strong team player. The ideal candidate is adaptable, eager to learn, and comfortable working with evolving technologies.

You bring a positive attitude, strong technical skills, and a customer-focused approach, acting as a trusted advisor to both internal and external clients.

THE JOB:

Reporting to the Project and Procurement Manager (or designate), the Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining the company’s fleet of vehicles, light equipment, and approved client fleets.

Duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review work orders and perform repairs and maintenance in accordance with established schedules.
  • Complete parts order forms and communicate requirements to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and light equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, inspections, and cleaning.
  • Inspect and test equipment to identify faults and determine required repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using computerized diagnostic tools and other testing equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Communicate work performed, equipment condition, and future repair needs to appropriate personnel.Pe
  • Perform basic service and repair work on heavy trucks, as required. 
  • Support maintenance administration by:
    • Assisting with maintenance scheduling
    • Ordering parts, supplies, and replacement equipment
    • Maintaining accurate service and repair records
    • Tracking inventory

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Automotive Service Technician (Journeyman Certification required)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Experience with Ford and Dodge vehicles is considered an asset
  • Heavy-duty equipment experience and/or certification is an asset.

Safety Ticket requirements:

  •  Standard First Aid
  • H2S Alive
  • WHMIS 
  • CSTS 
  • TDG A negative drug and alcohol test is a condition of employment.

Physical Demands:

 This role involves moderate physical activity, including standing and walking for extended periods, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling:

  • 20–50 lbs occasionally
  • 10–25 lbs frequently
  • Up to 10 lbs continuously

 Environmental Conditions:

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times (e.g., head, eye, and foot protection)
  • Handling of cleaning products and chemicals must follow manufacturer safety guidelines.
