JOURNEYMAN/WOMAN WELDER

Position Overview:
The Journeyman/woman Welder works with the Fabrication Team to weld and fabricate custom items. Responsibilities include metal fabrication, designing plate layouts and operating metal-shaping machines. The Journeyman/woman Welder is also responsible for setting up and operating heavy-duty metal-working machines, rigging, hoisting, and moving materials, assembling, and fitting metal sections and plates to form complete units of subunits using track welding, botting, riveting or other methods and installing fabricated components in a final product. The Journeyman/woman Welder uses their training and experience to mentor and guide Apprentice Welders.
Duties:

Perform welding and fabrication work in accordance with drawings, specifications, and welding procedures.

Fit, assemble, weld, repair, and modify structural-steel components and equipment.

Operate welding, cutting, grinding, and other fabrication equipment.

Read and interpret drawings, weld symbols, and material lists.

Inspect completed work and maintain high quality standards.

Follow established health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Complete work orders, timesheets, inspection records, and other required documentation.

Work independently and collaboratively with shop personnel and project management.
Qualifications:

At least one year of welding or metal-fabrication experience.

Experience with FCAW and structural-steel fabrication is preferred.

Comfortable using computers and digitally inclined, with the ability to learn computerized equipment, digital drawings, work-order systems, and other shop software.

Ability to read fabrication drawings and use measuring tools accurately.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Valid welding qualifications or CWB tickets are considered an asset.

Valid driver’s license is considered an asset.
