SHOP FOREMAN – WELDING, FABRICATION & MECHANICAL DIVISIONS

Position Overview:

The Aseniwuche Development Corporation (ADC) is fully owned by the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation of Canada. The company offers general contracting, metal fabrication and automotive services to industry partners and to the local community. ADC is committed to providing quality services to clients and stakeholders while maintaining high safety and environmental protection.

The Position:

Reporting to the Project and Procurement Manager, the Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the Welding, Fabrication, and Mechanical Divisions. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring that all projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Foreman will supervise and coordinate the work of shop personnel, manage workflow and scheduling, ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, and promote continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and quality.

Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of welders, fabricators, mechanics, and apprentices in the shop and yard.
  • Assign and monitor work to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Oversee fabrication, mechanical repairs, and assembly of equipment and components.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable safety standards, codes, and company procedures.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient shop environment, including inventory, tools, and materials.
  • Support project planning, estimating, and scheduling in coordination with management.
  • Perform inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets specifications and client expectations.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate shop staff to promote skill development and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with management, team leads, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards

Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Welder or Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Mechanic certification (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years’ of supervisory or lead hand experience in a welding, fabrication or mechanical environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of welding, fabrication, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and welding specifications; expertise in operating a wide range of manual and semi-automatic welding and cutting equipment.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson certification is required; CWB Inspector certification is an asset.
  • CSTS, First Aid and H2S Alive certifications are required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Work Demands:

Shift schedule: Monday to Friday (8-hour shifts).

The successful candidate may occasionally be required to be on call to respond to operational needs.
